Michael “Mike” Bird is the founder and President of Wings of Grace Counseling. Wings of Grace is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of individuals, couples, and families in a variety of life’s situations and experiences. Along with the other therapists who have joined with Dr. Bird, Wings of Grace seeks to bring understanding, compassion, healing, and growth to all ages, literally from the youngest of children to oldest adult.
Dr. Mike Bird has been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1995, although he has done extensive counseling work as a pastor in various church settings for over twenty-five years. In 1997 he received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Denver Seminary. In 1977 he received his Master of Divinity degree from the same institution.
Dr. Bird and his wife, Jan, are also certified instructors for the Interpersonal Couple Communication Program (CCP). As well, Dr. Bird is an instructor for the PREP communication program which was developed out of the University of Denver.
Dr. Bird specializes in intensive counseling, marriage, premarital, sexual addiction, sexual dysfunction, depression, group counseling and anger management. He now solely uses an intensive format where he spends typically a week at a time with one couple, individual, or family. At times, he uses the same intensive format to work with multiple couples in a retreat environment.
Dr. Mike Bird has been married to his wife, Jan, for thirty years. They have two grown children who are both local to the area. They have lived in Colorado for their entire married lives, and have resided in Colorado Springs since 1993.
Services Offered by Dr. Bird
Dr. Bird offers supervision for Colorado licensure (LMFT and LPC) and for CSAT or AAMFT accreditation. He is a Colorado State Approved Supervisor and AAMFT Clinical Supervisor.
